Mogadishu (HOL) – Senior Police official was on Sunday night killed in the Somali capital, the latest string of killings of officials and scholars in Somalia.
Unidentified men armed with pistols accosted Mr. Hassan Dhere and shot him in the head several times in Yaqshid district of Mogadishu.
According to the locals who spoke to Hiiraan Online, Dhere who was a prosecutor working with the Central Investigations Department (CID), has succumbed to the injuries he sustained from bullets.
The assailants managed to escape from the crime scene before the law enforcement reached the area.
Al-Shabaab militant group has claimed the responsibility for the assassination of the official.
In a separate attack, unknown attackers killed a Somali University don in Daynile district shortly after 7 pm.
Lecturer identified as Ismail Haji Adow was reportedly killed on his way home just a few minutes after he left the garage in the northern district of the capital.
No group has so far claimed the responsibility for the attack against Adow.
